Programs We Offer

The Mayor's Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity (CEO) is excited to share the fellowship and internship positions that are available this Fall.

 

CEO Is seeking organized, hard working, and self- motivated under-graduated and graduated- level students to serve as our Food Policy Fellows and Policy Intern. We are looking for interns to work park time (12-15 hours/week) in our office during the 2015 Fall Semester.

 

Mayor’s Food Policy fellows will research emergency meals policy for CEO, coordinate volunteers at designated soup kitchens, coordinate implementation of Meals And More programming, and collect data on emergency meals served in Philadelphia, and will also gain valuable experience for careers in City government and non-profits.

 

The role of the Policy Interns is to help support the work of CEO- including performing research and writing memos for the development of new policies and the implementation of programs for the City, Particularly in the areas of job training, benefits enrollment, early childhood development, housing and financial empowerment. Former interns have coordinated efforts to improve educational outcomes using digital technology, researched the state of summer youth programs in Philadelphia, and identified best practices for combating issues of hunger

We are the advocates between Community and City. Come in and find out what kind of help you can receive from us. These are just a few of our programs, so be sure to ask about everything we offer. When visiting, please remember to bring a Photo ID, Proof of Income, a Utility Bill, and Social Security Card (for everyone in the home).

 

 

Adaptive Modifications Program:

The AMP is designed to help individuals with permanent physical disabilities live more independently in their homes. It provides FREE adaptations to a house or an apartment, allowing easier access to and mobility within the home.

 

LICAP:

LICAP is designed to you save water by installing conservation measures and fixing leaks in your home.

 

LIHEAP:

Helps keep families safe and healthy through programs that assist families with energy costs such as home energy bills, energy crisis, weatherization, and energy related minor home repairs.

UESF (Utility Emergency Service Fund):

Stabilizes housing for families in need throughout the city of Philadelphia through utility, rent, security deposit, and mortgage assistance, along with ongoing counseling and self sufficiency training.

 

CRISIS:

CRISIS grants help customers pay the cost of restoring heat service or fixing a broken heater. The maximum amount available is $500 (depending on the utility balance owed). It can be combined with LIHEAP and UESF

 

Weatherization:

The Weatherization Assistance Program provides families with free weatherization and energy efficiency improvements to owner-occupied houses and tenant-occupied rental units in Philadelphia.

 

Philadelphia Home Improvement Loan:

If you own a home and occupy your home in Philadelphia (and meet the lender's creditworthiness requirements), you can borrow up to $25,000 for home improvement.

 

Housing Counseling Program:

This FREE housing counseling prepares you for homeownership by teaching you the responsibilities of purchasing, owning, and maintaining a home.

 

Basic Systems Repairs Program:

This program provides FREE repairs to the electrical, plumbing, and heating systems of owner-occupies home in Philadelphia.
